Haven’t posted an update in a while…. We have dryw

Haven’t posted an update in a while…. We have drywall! Finally! 🤗 also brought some of the kids’ outdoor play things so they have something to do while we’re out there. Just having their swings in the yard really makes it feel more like home. 🏡
We had to wait on several things and had a few delays at the beginning of the summer which put everything on pause for a few weeks. Now it seems like everything is happening at once.
Among other things, interior paint starts this week; swipe to see a couple of colors I was considering. Paint is hard.

This week they’re working on finishing front and back porches, metal roof went on, interior prime and painting, cabinets will be delivered Friday, and might start on some of the tile flooring.

Next week: cabinets installed, trim arrives, interior doors, and should start on tile flooring. I’m so excited to be getting to the fun part and seeing everything go in. I will make a solid effort to share more moving forward. No promises though 🫠

House updates from last week! The shingle roof was

House updates from last week! The shingle roof was installed…right after we got rain for the first time in months 😅 so our house resembled a pond for a few days until it all dried out.
The front porch was also framed last week. Framing felt like it took forever for us but they’re finally done and we’re moving on!
This week the windows were delivered Monday and have all been installed now, rough plumbing is ongoing, HVAC rough-ins and cabinets were measured. It’s moving right along ! ☺️

Progress on our forever home 🤍 week one of framing

Progress on our forever home 🤍 week one of framing is done and we’re now into week two. The last two framing photos are where they left off Friday evening. Basement done ✔️ main floor walls are up ✔️ started on the floor of the second level. No photos yet from this week’s progress.

The last photo is a rendering from our house plans with poorly photoshopped front door and porch trim.

Hopefully we’ll be under roof by next week! 🤞🏼

I’ve found that the Pinterest options are completely overwhelming and keep going back to my favorite books when I need to make a decision. Notice all the marked pages 🫣📚

Slowing down takes a lot more effort than one would think. I’ve been enjoying this read lately, so many great little nuggets of wisdom. 📖
I’ll set it aside and forget about it for months at a time but when I come back to it, I’m always glad that I did.
Do you have any books on your shelf that are like that? One that you find yourself coming back to time and again, and it feels like having coffee with an old friend? If so, please share so I can check it out too! 📚

One of my favorite easy to grow flowers: zinnias! I planted these 4 years ago (aka threw the seeds down by my mailbox) and they come back every year. I’ll throw more seeds down next year to fill it in a bit more but for a $1 packet of seeds, I think it was well worth it. What’s your favorite easy to grow cut flower? 🌼 🌺

Our big flag hasn’t been out this year because I can’t seem to find a sturdy enough flag pole. The wood ones do not last and the metal ones actually bend in our strong wind storms! So I’ve settled for these little guys in my porch planters instead. ☀️🇺🇸
