Hello Hello! Today, I want to chat with you about something a little different, yet super important – creating a vision statement for your life as a stay-at-home mom. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “A vision statement? I’m not a corporation!” But hear me out. This isn’t about boardrooms and business jargon. It’s about setting intentions for the kind of life and home environment you want to create for yourself and your little ones. What will your motherhood legacy look like? What do you want your children to remember about you from their childhood?

What’s a Vision Statement and Why Do I Need One?
Think of it as your guiding light, the thing that keeps you on track when days are stressful (spilled breastmilk, anyone?) and your energy is waning. It’s a reminder of what’s truly important to you and your family. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to keep focused on how unbelievably important your role in your family is to all those around you. A gentle reminder when you need it the most.
But, how do you go about creating your own vision statement as a homemaker or stay at home mom? Follow along below!
Step 1: Reflect on Your Core Values
Grab a cup of coffee or your beverage of choice, find a cozy spot, and let’s start with some reflection. Ask yourself: What matters most to me as a mom? What values do I want to instill in my children? This could be anything from kindness and empathy to a love of learning or the importance of family time. How do you want your children to remember you? Write down anything that pops into your head for how you would want to be remembered.
Do you want to be remember as being involved? Crafty? Playful? Constantly in the kitchen with an apron and flour on your hands? Or always outside in your garden, teaching your kids about nature and how things grow when given the proper space and care?

Step 2: Visualize Your Ideal Day
Close your eyes and picture your ideal, regular day at home. No, not the one where you’re lounging on a beach in Bali (although that sounds nice too!). Think about a realistic yet beautiful day. What does it look like? How do you and your kids spend your time? What’s the vibe in your home?
Set a timer for 5 minutes and just write what comes to you as you envision your perfect day as a mom.
Step 3: Make It Official
Now, let’s make it official. It’s time to write your vision statement. Keep it simple! This will be a short paragraph that paints a picture of the kind of home life you aspire to create.
For example, your mission statement might say something like “My vision is to manage our home with efficiency and creativity, making room for fun, relaxation, and meaningful family activities that strengthen our bond.”
Or “To provide a nurturing and organized home environment that supports my family’s needs, enabling them to achieve personal and educational goals.”
Hopefully those give you a decent idea of how to approach this. Don’t overthink it! This can always be tweaked a bit as you go.
Step 4: Keep it Visible
Put your vision statement somewhere you’ll see it every day. It could be on your fridge, in your planner, or as a pretty printout on the wall. Let it be a daily reminder and source of inspiration.
Step 5: Be Flexible and Kind to Yourself
Life happens, and some days will be far from your vision – and that’s okay! Your vision and mission statement should be a source of motivation, not guilt. It’s all about progress, not perfection.
Creating a vision and mission statement for your life as a stay-at-home mom is a powerful way to define and embrace your role. It can bring clarity, focus, and a sense of purpose to your daily life. And remember, this is a living document. It can evolve as you and your family grow and change. So, what does your heart say about the kind of home and family life you want to create?
Until next time! You’re doing great, mama!
Olivia
